Translation FAQ

How to translate content on your browser or device

Using Chrome browser on a Desktop/Laptop
  1. On your computer, open Chrome. Chrome
  2. Go to a page you want to translate.
  3. On the right of the address bar, select Translate Translate.
    • You can right-click anywhere on the page and select Translate to [Language].
  4. Select your preferred language.
    • If Translate doesn’t work, refresh the page.
Using Microsoft Edge on a Desktop/Laptop
  1. On your computer, open Microsoft Edge. Edge
  2. Go to the webpage you want to translate.
  3. Right-click anywhere on the page and select Translate to [Language].
    • Alternatively, you can click the Translate icon Translate in the address bar.
  4. Select your preferred language.
    • If the translation option does not appear, check the Edge settings to ensure the Offer to translate pages that aren't in a language I read option is enabled under Languages.
Using Chrome browser on an Android device
  1. On your Android device, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Go to a page you want to translate.
  3. In the notification at the top of the screen, tap the language you want to translate the page to.
  4. To change the default language:
    1. Tap Settings Settings and then More languages.
    2. Select the language.
  5. To always translate pages in this language:
    1. Tap Settings Settings and then Always translate pages in [language].

Not working? Try refreshing the page. If you still can't tap Translate, the language might not be available for translation.

Using Chrome browser on an iPad or iPhone
  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Go to a page you want to translate.
  3. At the top, select the language you want to translate to.
    1. To change the default language, tap Settings Settings and then More languages and select the language.
  4. Chrome will translate the page this one time.
    1. To always translate pages in this language, tap Settings Settings and then Always translate [language].
Using Safari on a Mac
  1. Go to the Safari app Safari on your Mac.
  2. Go to the webpage you want to translate. If the webpage can be translated, the Smart Search field displays the Translate button Translate button.
  3. Click Translate button, then choose a language. If you think the translation might need improvement, click the button again, then choose Report Translation Issue. The translation is sent to Apple for review.
Using Safari on an iPhone
  1. Go to the Safari app Safari on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Page menu, then tap Translate to language (if translation is available).
