Data-Oriented Design

Introduction

Data-oriented design uses data as the basis for clustering processes, building databases, and identifying potential distribution of the application. In this chapter, we continue the discussion of Information Engineering as the example of data-oriented methodology. Since IE has several 'incarnations' that differ slightly, it is important to note that IE in this chapter is consistent with the Martin [1992], Texas Instruments [1988], and Knowledgewareâ„¢ versions.
