Specialization Program

ESL for Healthcare

5 courses  ·  Self-paced  ·  Free

The English as a Second Language for Healthcare Specialization is a self-paced program that takes non-native English speakers from foundational literacy (CEFR A2) through advanced academic English (C1), culminating in a course dedicated to the language, terminology, and professional communication standards of the U.S. healthcare field. Across five sequential courses, students build core English skills in grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing — progressing from basic sentences to academic texts that incorporate and cite external sources — while developing the healthcare-specific competencies needed to navigate the U.S. healthcare system, interpret medical terminology, understand basic human anatomy, and communicate professionally in clinical and administrative settings in compliance with HIPAA and medical ethics standards. No prior knowledge of English or healthcare is required; learners need only a commitment to completing each course in order.
