What is JavaScript?

If you are taking this course, you know that JavaScript is a popular client-side programming language. Client-side programs run on your computer's web browser. So, where can you see JavasScript on the web? When you visit a website and submit a form, that's JavaScript. The language is easy to use and learn. This article introduces several features of the language and some of the things you can do with it. 

Introduction

Welcome to the MDN beginner's JavaScript course! In this article we will look at JavaScript from a high level, answering questions such as "What is it?" and "What can you do with it?", and making sure you are comfortable with JavaScript's purpose.

Prerequisites: Basic computer literacy, a basic understanding of HTML and CSS.
Objective: To gain familiarity with what JavaScript is, what it can do, and how it fits into a web site.
