Today, I tried the context clues strategy to expand my vocabulary. I read an article about political governance, and whenever I encountered an unfamiliar word, I tried to figure out its meaning based on the surrounding words before checking the dictionary.
One of the new words I learned was "bureaucracy"—the sentence mentioned how "a complex bureaucracy can slow down decision-making in government." Based on the sentence, I inferred that bureaucracy refers to a complicated system of administration, which was confirmed when I looked it up.
This strategy worked well because it helped me understand words naturally without interrupting my reading flow too much. I’ll definitely continue using it!
