One vocabulary strategy I decided to try today is the "context clues" This involves figuring out the meaning of unfamiliar words by analyzing the surrounding words in a sentence.
I applied this strategy while reading an article about environmental conservation. One new word I encountered was "biodiversity." By looking at the sentence—"Protecting forests helps maintain biodiversity, ensuring a variety of species continue to thrive."—I inferred that biodiversity relates to the variety of species in an ecosystem.
This strategy worked well for me because it allowed me to guess the meaning without using a dictionary immediately. However, I still looked up the definition to confirm my understanding.
