Today, I chose to try the context clues strategy to build my vocabulary. This strategy involves figuring out the meaning of unfamiliar words by examining the surrounding words and sentences.

While reading an article, I came across the word “meticulous.” I wasn’t sure what it meant at first, but the sentence described someone who double-checked every detail and organized everything perfectly. From the context, I guessed that meticulous means very careful and precise—and I was right!

I also encountered the word “ambiguous,” which I figured out meant unclear or having more than one meaning, based on how it was used to describe a vague statement.

This strategy worked well for me because it helped me learn new words without having to stop and look them up right away. It also made me pay closer attention to the text. I’ll definitely keep using context clues as a vocabulary-building tool.
