One effective vocabulary-building strategy I tried today is the “context clues” method. This involves inferring the meaning of unfamiliar words based on the surrounding text. I applied this strategy while reading an article about space exploration.
One new word I encountered was “orbital resonance”. From the context, I could tell it had something to do with the gravitational relationship between celestial bodies. After confirming its meaning, I learned that it refers to a gravitational effect that occurs when orbiting bodies exert regular, periodic influence on each other.
This strategy worked well for me because it helped me understand the word in context before looking it up. It also made it easier to remember because I associated it with the passage I was reading.
