Vocabulary Building Strategies

One strategy I’d try today is contextual learning—immersing myself in sentences or passages where new words naturally appear. Instead of memorizing isolated words, I’d look for them in articles, stories, or conversations to grasp their meaning through context.

For example, if I come across the word “serendipity,” I wouldn’t just look up the definition—I’d explore how it’s used in sentences like “Finding that old childhood book at the flea market was pure serendipity.” This way, I’d understand not just its meaning but also its tone and usage.

After trying this strategy, I’d reflect on whether it helped me retain new words better. Did it make learning more engaging? Were there any words that particularly stood out? I’d definitely share my thoughts in the discussion forum.

Which strategy are you thinking of trying today?
