Parts of speech are the basic types of words we use to make sentences. There are 8 main ones:

Noun – names a person, place, thing, or idea.
Ex: dog, love, school, Maria -
Pronoun – replaces a noun.
Ex: he, she, it, they, you -
Verb – shows action or state of being.
Ex: run, eat, is, are -
Adjective – describes a noun.
Ex: tall, red, happy -
Adverb – describes a verb, adjective, or another adverb.
Ex: quickly, very, always -
Preposition – shows direction, place, or time.
Ex: in, on, under, before -
Conjunction – connects words or groups of words.
Ex: and, but, or, because -
Interjection – shows emotion or reaction.
Ex: wow!, oh!, ouch!
