The parts of speech are categories that define the function of words in a sentence. Mastering them helps improve both writing and speaking skills. Here are the 8 main parts:

  1. Noun – Names a person, place, thing, or idea.
    Examples: book, city, happiness, teacher

  2. Pronoun – Replaces a noun.
    Examples: he, she, it, they, you

  3. Verb – Shows action or a state of being.
    Examples: run, eat, is, were, sleep

  4. Adjective – Describes a noun or pronoun.
