Vocabulary Building

My technique for building vocabulary is learning one new word each day. Today, I learned the word “dilapidated.” I came across it while reading a short story, and the sentence was: "The children were afraid to enter the dilapidated house at the end of the street." I guessed it meant something old or broken, and when I checked the dictionary, I found that dilapidated means falling apart or in a state of ruin due to age or neglect.

I like this technique because it’s simple and easy to stick to. Learning just one word a day feels manageable, and over time I can see my vocabulary growing. I’ll keep using this method and try to use each new word in my writing or conversations to help me remember it better.
