Today, I tried the “context clues” strategy to build my vocabulary. I chose a short story and focused on figuring out the meanings of new words by looking at the sentences around them.


For example, I saw the word “fiery” in this sentence:


> "The dragon burned all her clothes with his fiery breath."




Even though I didn’t know the exact meaning at first, I guessed it meant something hot or burning because it described a dragon’s breath. When I checked the dictionary, I found I was right — “fiery” means very hot or burning like fire.


This strategy worked well for me because it helped me guess meanings without stopping to translate every word. I learned other new words too, like "trail" and "celebration", and I tried using them in my own sentences.
