Today, I decided to use the Context Clues strategy to help build my vocabulary. Instead of immediately looking up new words, I tried to figure out their meanings by paying close attention to the surrounding text. I focused on understanding the context in which the words appeared.
Here’s how it worked for me:
came across the word "ebullient" in a sentence: "Her ebullient personality lit up the room, and everyone was drawn to her energy."
From the way it described someone's personality as lively and energetic, I guessed it meant "cheerful" or "enthusiastic."
This strategy worked really well for me because it kept me engaged with the text, and it felt more natural than stopping to look up every unfamiliar word. I also noticed that I remembered the words better when I figured out their meaning in context, rather than just memorizing a definition.
