1. Noun

  • Names a person, place, thing, or idea.

  • Examples: teacher, Manila, car, happiness

  • Example sentence: The cat is sleeping.


2. Pronoun

  • Replaces a noun to avoid repetition.

  • Examples: he, she, it, they, you, we, them

  • Example sentence: Maria is kind. She helps everyone.


3. Verb

  • Shows action or a state of being.

  • Examples: run, eat, is, was, seem

  • Example sentence: They play basketball every weekend.


4. Adjective

  • Describes or modifies a noun or pronoun.

  • Examples: beautiful, tall, blue, three

  • Example sentence: We stayed in a small hotel.


5. Adverb

  • Describes or modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb. Often answers “how,” “when,” “where,” or “to what extent.”

  • Examples: quickly, very, here, yesterday

  • Example sentence: She sang beautifully.


6. Preposition

  • Shows the relationship between a noun/pronoun and another word in the sentence.

  • Examples: in, on, at, under, between, with

  • Example sentence: The bag is under the table.


7. Conjunction

  • Joins words, phrases, or clauses.

  • Examples: and, but, or, because, although

  • Example sentence: I like coffee and tea.


8. Interjection

  • Expresses strong feeling or emotion.

  • Examples: oh!, wow!, ouch!, hey!

  • Example sentence: Wow! That’s amazing!”
