While reading the Parts of Speech resources, I learned how each word in a sentence has a role that affects the meaning. Here are two sentences I found important:

“Adjectives describe nouns and pronouns.”

“Verbs show action or a state of being.”
From these sentences, I can identify some parts of speech:

Adjectives → describe (adjective is the part of speech being explained)

Nouns → nouns, pronouns

Verbs → show, describe, being

Articles → a (in “a state of being”)

Prepositions → of (in “state of being”)
This helped me see how even short sentences contain many different parts of speech working together.
