8 Main Parts of Speech in English

1. Noun – Names a person, place, thing, or idea.
   Examples: teacher, city, book, honesty

2. Pronoun – Replaces a noun.
   Examples: he, she, it, they, who

3. Verb – Shows action or a state of being.
   Examples: run, eat, is, become

4. Adjective – Describes or modifies a noun/pronoun.
   Examples: beautiful, tall, red, smart

5. Adverb – Describes or modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb. Usually answers how, when, where, or to what extent.
   Examples: quickly, very, often, here

6. Preposition – Shows relationship between a noun/pronoun and another word in the sentence.
   Examples: in, on, at, under, between

7. Conjunction – Joins words, phrases, or clauses.
   Examples: and, but, because, although

8. Interjection – Shows strong emotion or sudden feeling.
   Examples: wow, oh!, hey, ala
