Dependent clauses can also be formed when we use relative pronouns such as who, whom, which when or that.

A sentence like  I will buy that pen when I get the money.

I will buy that pen is the independent clause. It can stand alone. It also expresses a complete thought or meaning.

When I get the money is the dependent clause. The relative pronoun when is used to indicate time.  Clauses that begin with the relative pronouns are often called relative clauses.
