I decided to try a classic and widely recommended vocabulary building strategy today. Contextual Learning & the Vocabulary Journal.
The idea is simple. as I go about my day, particularly during my regular reading, I note down unfamiliar words in a dedicated notebook (or a phone app, in my case). The crucial part is to capture not just the word and its definition, but also the original sentence/context, and then to write my own new sentence using it. This approach is highly recommended as it helps in understanding the nuances, usage, and connotations of the word, rather than just its isolated meaning.
