The eight parts of speech are nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections, each with distinct functions in a sentence. Nouns name people, places, or things (e.g., dog, city, happiness), while pronouns replace nouns (e.g., he, she, they). Verbs show action or a state of being (e.g., run, is, write), and adjectives describe nouns. Adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs (e.g., quickly, very). Prepositions show the relationship between a noun and other words (e.g., in, on, at). Conjunctions connect words or clauses (and, but, or). Interjections express strong emotion (wow, oh, ouch)......
