In this activity, I identified the sentence patterns in the short text about Robert and his family. The first sentence, “Robert lives in an apartment,” follows the pattern S + V + P because “Robert” is the subject, “lives” is the verb, and “in an apartment” shows the place. The second sentence, “He loves his job,” follows the pattern S + V + O, where “He” is the subject, “loves” is the verb, and “his job” is the object. The third sentence, “His wife teaches college courses,” also follows the S + V + O pattern. Finally, the last sentence, “They work in the mornings,” follows the pattern S + V + T, as “in the mornings” indicates time. Through this exercise, I learned how sentence structure helps express clear and complete ideas in English.
