1. Noun — names a person, place, thing, or idea

Examples:


Person: teacher, doctor, Wiyaw


Place: school, church, Kachin State


Thing: book, phone, chair


Idea: love, freedom, happiness



Example sentence: The teacher reads a book in the library.




2. Pronoun — replaces a noun


Examples: I, you, he, she, it, we, they, him, her, them


Example sentence: Wiyaw is smart. He studies every day.




3. Verb — shows an action or state of being


Examples: run, eat, write, sing, am, is, are

 Example sentence: They play football after class.




4. Adjective — describes a noun or pronoun


Examples: beautiful, tall, happy, cold, blue


Example sentence: She has a beautiful voice.




5. Adverb — describes a verb, adjective, or another adverb (often ends with -ly)


Examples: quickly, very, well, always, silently


Example sentence: He runs quickly.




6. Preposition — shows the relationship between a noun/pronoun and another word


Examples: in, on, at, under, between, behind, near


Example sentence: The cat is under the table.




7. Conjunction — joins words, phrases, or clauses


Examples: and, but, or, because, although

 Example sentence: I wanted to go, but it was raining.


8. Interjection — expresses strong emotion or sudden feeling


Examples: wow, oh, ouch, hey, hooray

Example sentence: “Wow!” That’s a beautiful sunset.
