Today, I chose to use the context clues strategy to improve my vocabulary. While reading a news article, I came across a few unfamiliar words. Instead of looking them up right away, I tried to understand their meaning based on the surrounding sentences.

One new word I learned was "meticulous." The sentence said: "The artist was meticulous in every detail of her painting, making sure each brushstroke was perfect." From the context, I guessed it meant something like "careful" or "very detailed"—and I was right! When I checked the dictionary later, it said: “showing great attention to detail; very careful and precise.”

Another word I learned was "inevitable," which appeared in a sentence about changes in technology. I understood it to mean something that will definitely happen, and the dictionary confirmed that.

This strategy worked well for me because it helped me stay focused while reading and improved my ability to guess word meanings without interrupting the flow. I plan to keep using context clues in the future to become a more independent reader.
