I tried the “context clues” strategy to build my vocabulary

Today I tried the “context clues” strategy to build my vocabulary. I chose a short article and underlined new words, then used the sentences around each word to guess the meaning before checking a dictionary. This strategy worked well for me because it made me think more deeply about how each word is used in real situations.

New words I learned included revitalizepreserve, and identity. From context, I understood revitalize as “bring back to life or make strong again,” and preserve as “protect so it is not lost.” After checking the dictionary, my guesses were very close.

I plan to keep using the context‑clues strategy whenever I read in English, and I will only use the dictionary to confirm my ideas or when I am still confused.
