A basic English sentence is clear when it answers important questions such as who, what, how, where, and when. The who tells us the subject of the sentence, and the what tells us the action or activity. The how explains the manner of the action, while where and when give information about place and time.

For example, in the sentence “They learn English quickly,” they is the who, learn is the action, English is the what, and quickly shows how. In another sentence, “Maria and her sister attend classes online,” the sentence clearly tells us who is acting and where the action happens.

Understanding these sentence parts helps learners write clear and complete sentences and improves both writing and reading skills.
