From the 8 Parts of Speech, I learned:

Noun – names of people, places, animals, things, and ideas.

Pronoun – words used to replace nouns to avoid repetition.

Verb – words that show action or state of being.

Adjective – words that describe or give more information about nouns.

Adverb – words that describe verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs (how, when, where, how often).

Preposition – words that show the relationship between a noun/pronoun and another word in a sentence.

Conjunction – words used to join words, phrases, or sentences.

Interjection – words that express emotions or sudden feelings.
