After completing ESL001 Unit 3, I decided to try the strategy of using context clues to understand new vocabulary. Instead of immediately checking a dictionary, I first tried to guess the meaning of new words by looking at the surrounding sentences.
This strategy worked well for me because it helped me think more carefully about the text. For example, I learned new words like “confident,” “challenge,” and “improve.” By reading the full paragraph, I understood their meaning more clearly and remembered them better.
I think this strategy is helpful because it improves both reading skills and vocabulary at the same time. I will continue using context clues to build my English vocabulary.
