Discussion on Parts of Speech
In this lesson, I learned that the eight parts of speech help us understand how words work in a sentence. One sentence that I found important is:
“Lila feeds Whiskers, and June pours milk into a bowl.”
From this sentence, I can identify several parts of speech:
Lila, Whiskers, June, bowl → nouns
feeds, pours → verbs
and → conjunction
into → preposition
a → article / determiner
milk → noun
Another useful sentence is:
“Whiskers purrs loudly.”
Whiskers → noun
purrs → verb
loudly → adverb
I think this lesson is important because learning the parts of speech helps us read better and write more correct sentences.
