According to Ethnologue, there are approximately 7,000 languages in the
world! That is a huge number of languages. For this reason, I prefer to
communicate in as many languages as possible rather than communicate
with animals, since speaking a variety of languages allows one to
understand more about the world and increases one's understanding of it.
Communicating with animals would be nice, but animals like dogs or cats
can also understand human language, so I can communicate with them in
as many languages as possible. Thinking about it, perhaps being fluent
in all human languages could break the barriers of consciousness and
enable communication with animals.
