🔹 Transitive verbs

A transitive verb needs a direct object to complete its meaning.

👉 Structure:
Subject + Verb + Object

Examples

  • She reads a book.
  • They built a house.
  • He ate the cake.
  • I bought a power bank.

👉 If you remove the object, the sentence feels incomplete:

  • ❌ “She reads.” (reads what?)

🔹 Intransitive verbs

An intransitive verb does not need an object. The action is complete by itself.

👉 Structure:
Subject + Verb

Examples

  • The baby cried.
  • He runs every morning.
  • The sun sets.
  • She slept.

👉 Adding an object would be incorrect:

  • ❌ “She slept the bed.”
