Think of yourself being in situation, which you were surrounded by different races, culture, appearance and even languages of other people. Would you survive? Yes of course, if you're fluent enough to understand and communicate using different languages, then you are being one of the most gifted among all. Fluency in languages is really beneficial in todays generation, as you will be encountering different people, with different perspectives in life, and the best way to be included is communicating with them.
Overall, I could say that, being fluent doesn't only talks about talking on that language, it's all about comprehending, respecting, and valuing everything within that person, because when you are able to understand them, that's more than fluency.
