Today, I have learned the eight parts of speech, and for me able to remember these is that I use “IVAN CAPP” as an acronym. These are important to understand as they are the foundation for creating sentences. Its like a building block of English, enabling us to speak, communicate, and write.

The Eight Parts of Speech (IVAN CAPP)

1) I-Interjection: It’s like an emotion often followed by exclamation mark.

Ex: Wow! that's amazing!

2) V-Verb: Action words
Ex: Anna is walking around the plaza. (helping verb: is, main verb: walking)

3) A-Adverb: It describe a verb

Ex: Anna ran quickly  to chase her dog.

4) N-Noun: Name of a person, places, things, events, and ideas.

Ex: The bag on the table is mine. (things)

5) C-Conjunction: To connect two or more phrase or sentence.

Ex: Anna wanted to go to the plaza, however, her mom didn't let her.

6) A-Adjective: Describes noun/pronoun

Ex: Anna is beautiful.

7) P-Pronoun: It’s like a noun, but you use “she(pronoun)”, instead of Anna(Noun)

Ex: While Anna was on her way to school, she realized that she forgot his notebook.

8) P-Preposition: This shows the position of things

Ex: The book is under the table.
