The eight parts of speech are what we considered as the building block or the foundation of grammar. The eight parts of the speech are as follows:
1. Noun- it is used to name a person, places, things, animals, and events.
Example: Janna likes to eat everyday.

2. Pronoun- it is used to replace or refer the noun.
Example: Janna likes to eat everyday.
She likes to eat everyday.
Notice that the italicized word , which is an example of noun, on the first sentence is replaced by another word in the second sentence.
3. Verb- words that are used as action word or words that states action.
Example: Janna likes to eat everyday.

4. Adverb- it is used to modify an adjective, verb, or another adverb.
Example: She barely eat his food for today.
The underlined word on the sentence above is an example of adverb.
5. Adjective- words that are used to describe.
Example: She is looking good today.
The underlined word on the sentence above is an example of adjective.
6. Conjunction- words that are used to connect clauses or sentences.
Example He is eating fries and drinking iced coffee.

7. Preposition- it is used to link noun, pronoun, or noun phrase to other words in a sentence to show its relationship, time, location, or direction.
Example: The book is on the desk.

8. Interjection- words that are used to express emotions.
Example: Wow! You look great today.
