There are 4 types of sentences, based on their purpose:

Declarative – makes a statement
➤ Ends with a period.

➤ Most common sentence type. -
Interrogative – asks a question
➤ Ends with a question mark.
✔ Do you love dogs? -
Imperative – gives a command or request
➤ Can end with a period or exclamation mark.
✔ Please sit down. / Shut the door! -
Exclamatory – shows strong emotion
➤ Ends with an exclamation mark.
✔ That’s amazing!
Easy way to spot them? Look at the punctuation and the sentence's intention.
