For today’s vocabulary strategy, I chose to try using context clues while reading an online article. Instead of looking up every unfamiliar word right away, I tried to figure out the meaning based on how the word was used in the sentence.

This strategy really helped me stay focused while reading, and I felt more confident trying to “guess” the meaning of words before checking a dictionary. Later, I did look up a few of them to confirm.

Here are three new words I learned:

1. Mitigate – to reduce the severity or seriousness of somethin

2. Prevalent – widespread or commonly occurring

3. Repercussions – unintended consequences of an actio

I liked this method because it made me more engaged with the reading and encouraged me to pay attention to sentence structure and meaning. I’ll definitely keep using this strategy, especially when reading articles or books.

Has anyone else tried using context clues? Did it help you too?
