Parts of Speech Discussion

While reviewing the Parts of Speech resources, I found these two sentences helpful and full of important information:

1. Elizabeth was a beautiful princess.

2. She put on the bag and followed the dragon.

Here are some parts of speech I identified in these sentences:

Sentence 1:

Elizabeth – Noun (a person’s name)

was – Verb (linking verb)

a – Article

beautiful – Adjective (describes "princess")

princess – Noun

Sentence 2:

She – Pronoun

put – Verb (action)

on – Preposition

the – Article

bag – Noun

followed – Verb

the – Article

dragon – Noun

I learned that even short sentences can have many different parts of speech, and identifying them helps me understand sentence structure better.
