Today, I tried the strategy of using context clues to figure out the meaning of new words while I was reading an article online. Instead of looking up every unfamiliar word right away, I tried to understand what the word meant based on how it was used in the sentence.
One new word I came across was "meticulous" in the sentence: "She kept meticulous notes during the experiment." From the context, I guessed it meant something like “careful” or “detailed,” and when I looked it up, I found out it means "showing great attention to detail." So my guess was pretty close!
This strategy worked well for me because it helped me stay focused on the reading without constantly stopping. I also remembered the new word better because I figured it out myself first.
I’m going to keep practicing this strategy to build my vocabulary over time.
