Using Context Clues to Learn New Words

Today I tried the context clues strategy. Instead of stopping when I saw a new word, I looked at the sentences around it to guess the meaning. For example, I learned that the word “interim” means temporary because the text said someone was a department head only for three months. This strategy worked for me because I could understand words without using a dictionary right away. I also learned the word “callous,” which means insensitive.
