context clues strategy

Today, I tried the context clues strategy to build my vocabulary. Instead of looking up every unfamiliar word right away, I read the surrounding sentences carefully to figure out the meaning first. After guessing, I confirmed the definition with a dictionary.

This strategy worked well because it made me slow down and really think about how the words were used. It also helped me remember them better since I connected the word to its usage in the passage.

Some new words I learned were meticulous (showing great attention to detail), ephemeral (lasting for a very short time), and resilient (able to recover quickly).

I’ll keep practicing this method because it feels more active than just memorizing definitions, and I noticed I understood the text more deeply too.
