Today, I decided to use the context clues strategy to learn new words. When I was reading a short article in English, I tried to guess the meaning of unfamiliar words by looking at the other words around them. After that, I checked a dictionary to confirm if I was correct.
This strategy worked very well for me because it helped me focus on understanding the text instead of stopping all the time to translate. I learned new words such as “glimpse” (a quick look), “roughly” (approximately), and “wander” (to walk without a fixed direction).
I think I’ll continue using this strategy because it helps me remember words better and makes reading more natural.
