Last week, I decided to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and head to Malang, a city surrounded by nature and rich in culture. My main destination wasn’t the city itself but the southern coastline, known for its pristine beaches and serene vibe.

After a scenic drive through lush green hills and villages, I reached the southern part of Malang. I checked into a cozy beachside homestay near one of the more secluded beaches. The sound of waves crashing and the salty sea breeze greeted me as if welcoming me to paradise.

On the first day, I spent hours walking along the shoreline. The sand was soft beneath my feet, and the ocean stretched endlessly before me. I explored nearby rock formations and tide pools, where tiny crabs scuttled about. As the sun set, the sky turned shades of orange, pink, and purple, creating a breathtaking view. I sat on the beach, letting the moment sink in, with the cool breeze brushing against my skin.

The second day was more adventurous. I joined a small group for a boat ride to explore nearby hidden spots. We visited a secluded lagoon with crystal-clear water, perfect for a refreshing swim. The guide also took us to a local warung by the beach, where I had fresh seafood – grilled fish and sambal that packed just the right amount of heat.

In the evening, I found myself back on the beach, lying on a blanket and staring at the stars. Without the city lights, the night sky was vivid and endless. It was a rare, tranquil experience that felt almost unreal.

As the trip came to an end, I felt refreshed and at peace. The southern beaches of Malang had been the perfect getaway, a place where time slowed down, and nature’s beauty enveloped me. I promised myself I’d return someday to relive the magic.

Have you visited those beaches often, or was this your first time?
