I really liked learning more about interjections. I didn’t realize how often we use them in everyday speech!
Here’s a sentence that shows interjections in action:
“Yeah, life is good for Robert, his wife, and their two cats. Cheerio!”
Here are some examples of parts of speech from those sentences:
Interjections: Yeah, Cheerio
Nouns: life, Robert, wife, cats
Pronouns: their
Verbs: is
Adjectives: good, two
Prepositions: for
Articles: his (used like a possessive adjective here)
I think it’s interesting how just one little word like “Yeah” or “Cheerio” can show emotion or feeling and totally change the tone of a sentence.
