Today, I chose to use the “word map” strategy to learn new vocabulary. A word map helps me understand a new word by writing its definition, part of speech, synonyms, antonyms, and an example sentence. I tried this strategy because it helps me remember words more deeply instead of just memorizing them.
I used the word map to learn these new words today:
Essential (very important)
Predict (to say what will happen in the future)
Maintain (to keep something in good condition)
This strategy worked well for me because it helped me connect each new word to ideas I already know. I also understood how to use the words in sentences, which makes them easier to remember.
