I have just learnt the difference between a phrase and a clause. The phrase is a group of words that doesn't have both a subject and a verb.  The clause is a group of words that has both a subject and a verb.

There are four sentences structure:

  1. simple sentence :
  2.  It consists of just one independent clause. 
  3. compound sentence:
  4.  It is made by joining simple sentence with a comma and any coordinating conjunctions.
  5. complex sentence:
    It is made by joining simple sentence with a comma and any subordinating conjunctions.
  6. compound complex sentence :
         It is made when we combine a complex sentence and compound sentence or simple                           sentence.
There are two types of clauses :

  1. Independent clause:  contains a subject and verb ) ( stands on its own )
    1. Dependent clause: ( contains a subject and verb ) ( can't stands on its own. begins with a dependent marker )

There are four types of sentences :

  1. Declarative sentences : It is used to communicate or make statements.
  2. Interrogative sentences  It is used to ask questions.
  3. Imperative sentences : It is used to give orders or directives.
  4. Exclamatory sentences : It is used to express great emotion or excitement.
