have just finished reviewing the first part of Unit 1, and I wanted to share some key takeaways regarding Word Order and Independent Clauses.
1. The Importance of Word Order:
Understanding the Subject + Verb + Object (S+V+O) pattern is essential. It’s interesting to see how adding an Adjective before a noun or an Adverb after a verb can change the detail and clarity of our sentences.
2. Identifying Independent Clauses:
A crucial point I learned is that an Independent Clause must have both a Subject and a Predicate. Most importantly, it must be able to stand alone as a complete thought. This is the foundation for avoiding sentence fragments in our writing.
3. The Role of Interjections:
I also enjoyed learning about Interjections. Words like "Wow!" or "Ouch!" add a layer of emotion to our English that makes it feel more "alive" and natural.
Question for Discussion:
Do you find it easy to identify the "Predicate" in long sentences, or do you focus more on the "Subject" first? I would love to hear your strategies!
Best
regards.
