By Function (Purpose)
- Declarative: Makes a statement and ends with a period (e.g., The cat sat on the mat.).
- Interrogative: Asks a question and ends with a question mark (e.g., Where is the cat?).
- Imperative: Gives a command or makes a request and usually ends with a period or exclamation mark (e.g., Sit down, cat! or Please close the door.).
Exclamatory: Expresses strong emotion and ends with an exclamation mark (e.g., What a cute cat!).
