Strategy I Tried: Using new words multiple times in speaking and writing.
How I Tried It: I selected five challenging words “obfuscate,” “recalcitrant,” “perfunctory,” “ephemeral,” and “acquiesce.” I wrote sentences using each word and then tried to include them in conversation and in my notes.
Did It Work? Yes! Using these words actively helped me understand their meanings, connotations, and proper context far better than just seeing them in a list.
New Words I Learned: obfuscate, recalcitrant, perfunctory, ephemeral, acquiesce
Why I Chose This Strategy: I wanted to internalize sophisticated and nuanced vocabulary so I could use it accurately in writing and discussion, not just recognize it passively.
