From the Parts of Speech resources, I learned more about nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbsI learned that a noun names a person, place, thing, or idea. For example, in the sentence “The teacher explained the lesson,” the words teacher and lesson are nouns. I also learned that a verb shows an action or a state of being. In the sentence “She runs every morning,” the word runs is the verb because it shows action. For adjectives, I learned that they describe or give more information about a noun. For example, in “He has a blue car,” the word blue is an adjective because it describes the car. Lastly, I learned that adverbs describe verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. In the sentence “She quickly finished her work,” the word quickly is an adverb because it describes how she finished her work. Overall, this helped me better understand how words function in a sentence and how they make sentences more clear and detailed.
