1. Noun A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea.

  • Examples: dog, teacher, Manila, happiness, school
  • Sentence: The dog ran across the park.

2. Pronoun A pronoun replaces a noun to avoid repetition.

  • Examples: he, she, it, they, we, I, you, them, his, their
  • Sentence: She gave him the book.

3. Verb A verb expresses an action, occurrence, or state of being.

  • Examples: run, is, think, jump, was, seem, eat
  • Sentence: The cat sleeps on the mat.

4. Adjective An adjective describes or modifies a noun or pronoun.

  • Examples: beautiful, tall, three, cold, happy, red
  • Sentence: She wore a beautiful, red dress.

5. Adverb An adverb modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb. It often answers how, when, where, or to what extent.

  • Examples: quickly, very, silently, often, here, yesterday
  • Sentence: He quickly and silently left the room.

6. Preposition A preposition shows the relationship between a noun/pronoun and another word in the sentence.

  • Examples: in, on, at, under, between, after, before, with
  • Sentence: The book is on the table beside the lamp.

7. Conjunction A conjunction connects words, phrases, or clauses.

  • Examples: and, but, or, so, yet, because, although, while
  • Sentence: I wanted to go, but it was raining.

8. Interjection An interjection expresses strong emotion or surprise. It is usually followed by an exclamation point or comma.

  • Examples: Wow!, Oh!, Ouch!, Hey!, Hooray!, Well,
  • Sentence: Wow! That was an amazing performance.
