vocabulary strategy

Today I tried the Contextual Expansion strategy to move beyond simple definitions. I chose to focus on words that bridge the gap between technical theory and professional management.

Did it work? Yes! I found that writing three distinct sentences helped the words 'stick' much better than just reading them. By applying a technical term like 'convergent' to a team setting, I realized I understood the concept of moving toward a single point much more deeply.

New Words Learned:

  • Prerequisite: Useful for describing necessary steps in a project or study plan.

  • Convergent: Great for describing how different data points or opinions come together.

  • Synergy: A perfect term for describing why group work can be more effective than working alone.

I highly recommend this strategy if you find yourself forgetting new words a few hours after reading them. It forces your brain to 'own' the word by creating a scenario for it."
